Save Your Hair and Save Money With These Hair Masks

Why waste money on expensive hair products, masks, and conditioners when these all-natural homemade options can strengthen your hair and prevent balding.

Turmeric Hair Mask

Turmeric helps to reduce inflammation. If you’re losing hair due to inflamed hair follicles or an irritated scalp, this mask is for you. Coconut oil helps moisturize your skin, and its anti-bacterial properties help to protect against scalp infections and dandruff naturally.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • 1 pinch turmeric

Mix coconut oil and turmeric together and massage into your hair. Let it soak for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water and pat dry with a towel.

Anti-Aging Mask

You might not think about it, but your scalp and hair are aging just like the skin on your face. This hydrating, nourishing mask (rich in essential fats and anti-aging vitamin E) helps to guard against signs of premature aging, keeping your scalp soft and healthy and preventing age-related hair loss.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg

Mash the avocado, then mix with the oil and nutmeg to create a thick pace. Massage into your hair and scalp. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse clean.

Rejuvenating Banana Mask

If you have split ends, or if your hair is breaking and causing your hair to look thinner and thinner, try this infused banana recipe. Banana helps fight dryness and frizzy hair, and it also moisturizes deeply with potassium.

Ingredients:

  • ½ banana
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp each of jojoba oil, honey, coconut oil and olive oil

Blend in a blender, then massage into your scalp for 10 minutes. Rinse dry.

Restructuring Mask

If you’re losing hair due to over-dying, over-processing or over-styling, you aren’t alone. Don’t get thin, brittle hair from excessive hair work. Instead, restructure your hair with this mask that includes an egg, whose protein helps restore your hair’s shine and strength and closes damaged, open hair cuticles.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp each of coconut oil and honey

Combine the two ingredients with an ounce or two of water. Rinse your hair and let it soak for 15 minutes, then shampoo and rinse.
